Bike Rental FAQ

I'm looking for cheap bike rentals in Destin. Can you help?

We focus on delivering the newest and most up-to-date gear possible. If you are looking for an affordable bike rental, your best bet is to visit during the off-season. We offer discounts throughout the winter for 6 or more bicycles, and you can call us at (850)-797-9405 to discuss. In addition to bicycles, we also rent golf carts, cornhole boards, and coolers.

Where do you recommend riding bikes?

Where we recommend depends on where you are staying. If you are staying along 30A, we recommend the Timpoochee Trail, the 18-mile paved pathway that runs along South Walton's Scenic Highway 30A. It's such a beautiful ride and very family-friendly. If you are staying in Destin or Miramar Beach, we recommend Scenic Highway 98. The paved path runs right next to the Gulf and offers stunning views.

If you prefer to bike closer to nature, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park has several trails you can ride on, as does Deer Lake State Park. There are also beautiful trails and pathways that run throughout Watercolor.

Can we ride our bikes to the beach?

You can. During the busy season, bike parking at the beach can be competitive depending on the access you choose. In Walton County, the primary public access points offer more bicycle parking spots than the smaller access points. The good news is that public beach accesses are plentiful in Walton County. If you arrive at the beach and find that bicycle parking is full, just ride to the next access. We've always had great luck finding bike parking at the following beach accesses: Santa Clara, Dune Allen, Miramar Beach Access 52, Ed Walline, Grayton Beach, Fort Panic, and Blue Mountain Regional Beach Access.

Are your electric bike rentals for roadways only?

E-bikes can be operated anywhere a bicycle can be operated, including bike lanes, streets, sidewalks, and other multi-use paths. E-bikes are no longer required to be registered with the state, and riders do not need to take out auto insurance or be licensed. All of our ebikes are considered pedal-assist bikes. They are not considered motorized vehicles which allows them to stay in the same class/category as a regular bicycle. We require all electric bike renters to be over the age 25,

Do we have to wear bike helmets?

Per Florida law, riders under the age of 16 must wear a bicycle helmet. We highly recommend the use of helmets, and we have helmets available for rent. If you need a bike helmet rental, just let us know when you call to make your reservation.

Do I need to be present to receive the bikes?

No, you do not need to be present when we deliver your bikes. We will bring them to the address you provide to us during the reservation process. We will provide the bikes, make sure you have the locks and lock codes, and pick them up when you’re done.

Do I need to bring the bikes back to you before we leave?

No, delivery and pick up are included with your bike rental. Before you depart, make sure your bikes are locked, and in the exact location you found them upon arrival. We simply ask that you remove any trash, water bottles, etc., before you leave.

Tips for Miramar Beach and 30A Bike Rentals:

Bicycling is one of the best ways to see South Walton. It's fun, it's beachy, and it's good exercise. If you are new to biking in the area, here are a few tips to help you bike like a local:

  • The main path that runs parallel to 30A (the Timpoochee Trail) and the Scenic Highway 98 pathway in Miramar Beach are both shared by bikes and pedestrians. Cyclists hold the responsibility of making sure pedestrians are safe.

  • When riding the trail, you will notice that it is customary to warn pedestrians of your approach when you are about 50 feet away. Most people do this by calling out, "On your left!" The pedestrian then moves to the right of the sidewalk, and you pass on the left, just like you would if you were driving a car.

  • As shared pedestrian/bicycle paths, the 30A trail and Scenic Highway 98 are made for leisurely rides. Serious cyclists stick to the road's shoulder, but our beach cruisers are made for leisurely cruising.

  • If you must stop on the bike path, move off to the side so others can pass by freely.

  • Do not leave your bikes on the path. There are bike racks throughout Walton County, and bikes should be left in a designated area.

  • Be sure that whenever you leave a bike unattended, you secure it with a lock (included with your bike rental).

  • There are crosswalks throughout the county, and Florida law says that drivers must stop for pedestrians trying to cross at a crosswalk. However, we have many visitors to our beaches, and many aren't aware of local laws. Also, it can be hard to see people trying to cross. Our recommendation is to use caution when crossing both 30A and Scenic Highway 98.

  • That said, if you drive a car or golf cart down 30A, make sure to stop for pedestrians and cyclists trying to cross at crosswalks.

  • Most beach neighborhoods are bike-friendly, but in season, Seaside usually requests that you dismount your bike and walk it through their main square. In general, this is the best practice for all crowded pedestrian areas (Seacrest, Seaside, Rosemary Beach). It is courteous to dismount your beach bike rental and walk until you are past the congestion. We have lots of little kids who love to vaca at the beach with their families and walking through pedestrian congestion is not only courteous but a safety precaution for riders and walkers.

We hope these tips help you have a safe and fabulous vacation. Keep the Good Times Rolling!
